Chang Lam, Thimphu, Bhutan
Known to most as Asha Kama, Kama Wangdi is one of Bhutan’s most celebrated artists. With exposure to western art at school, and an apprenticeship in religious and mythological art of Bhutan at the National Fine Art Centre, Kama joined the Royal Government as an illustrator / designer. Further along his career, he was granted a scholarship from the British Government and pursued the study of western art at Kent Institute of Art and Design, University of Kent in Englad. With a First Class hon’s degree in hand, it took a few years for Kama to retire and become the founder of VAST Bhutan, along with two toher artists and has been the driving force between this insitution that has traned more than 1000 young artists and art enthusiasts.
