About Bhutan International Festival

The Bhutan International Festival (BhIF) is a brand new collaborative arts festival, from one of the most beautiful locations on earth, in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Over 10 days, BhIF invites everyone to come and enjoy the best of Bhutanese and International culture with landmark collaborative art installations, photography exhibits, film screenings, a food festival, music stages, theatrical performances, traditional and contemporary dance, talks and much more.

BhIF is a non profit annual event – working to build a new vehicle for the ongoing funding of the creative arts in Bhutan. Our mission is to provide a platform on which artistic ventures and individuals can flourish. We want to create a strong and supportive network to promote Bhutanese artists, shine a light on the amazing creative diversity here, and invite a cultural exchange with artists from around the world. In doing so, BhIF hopes to inspire international artists, guests and and participants to reflect on Bhutanese values – on their humbleness, empathy, and sustainability.

BhIF has been born through the good will and support of our many partners, including VAST (Bhutan), RAPA (Bhutan), ABTO (Bhutan), Learning Planet (UK), Edenlab (UK), Woodstock Film Festival (USA), and many others. Participation and engagement are a key foundation, and the event includes a wide range of workshops and master-classes, offering guidance and support for first timers and expert advice for the more experienced.

BhIF was founded in August 2014, has filed for 503c registration in the USA and is seeking non profit status in Bhutan. Profits from the events will be re-invested into the arts in Bhutan, and long-term legacy projects will nurture and support existing organisations and individuals and provide a seed fund for new artistic ventures.

Come and be a part of the experience, it will be hard to miss us!!
